Pets from School

"I really don't like mondays," said Laure Daver as she woke up. Laure yawned and then took a bath. Her bathroom was in her room and there was a toilet in her bathroom. Mrs. Daver, her mother made breakfast for her - scrambled egg and sushi. After that, Laure's sister Larra opened the refrigirator and took out a bottle of apple juice. She couldn't reach the cabinet so she had to climd on a chair. Laure was 9 and Larra was 6. Larra got four cups out of the cabinet and brought them over to the dining table. "thanks, Larra," Laure said.
"You're welcome," Larra replied sweetly. A few minutes later, Mr. Daver came to the kitchen and sat at the dining table. Laure poured herself a cup of apple juice. So did Larra. Mr and Mrs. Daver poured theirself a cup too. After everyone was done, Mrs. Daver sent the girls to school. Laure's best friend, Kate, came running to her. "Oh My Goodness! Look!" Screamed Kate pointing to a poster that was stuck on a wall near the courtyard. Laure went to Golden Leaf International School. There, they played in the courtyard for recess, but high school stays in their classes. Laure looked where Kate was pointing. Laure walked to the poster. Laure looked at the poster, it had a picture of a cute little white kitten. "Awwww, how adorable!" Laure said dreamily. "I know, right," said Kate. Laure read what it said.
" Free pets! pet's day on friday, the student that wins first place will recieve this cute little kitten for free! all you have to do is write a pet story!" She read. Laure got excited. She really wanted a pet, and cats were her favourite animals, she really wanted to win 1st place and win that white kitten. " I'm going to enter this competition!" Laure said with a big smile.

" But ofcourse, your good at literacy, your the best in grade 4 when it comes to literacy!" said Kate. "Are you going to enter?" Laure asked Kate.

"I've never written a story, well i wrote 3 stories in school and thats all, i'm going to give it a try but i don't think i'll win," Kate replied.

"It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it just matters that you try your best," Laure told her.

"What animal are you going to write about?" asked Kate.

"ummm... marine animals," replied Laure. "How about you?".

"Rodents..." Kate replied.

Laure and Kate were in 4A. Mendra, a girl in 4B, jumped behind them and said, "Boo!!!".

" AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" Kate screamed.

"HaHa! scaredy-cat!" said Mendra.

"You really scared me, next time, i'm telling the teacher!" Kate said.

Laure laughed. she wans't frightened at all. All she could think about was the cute little kitten. But it won't matter is she lost. When they went home, Larra silently crept into their room. Laure and Larra slept in the same room. "WWAAHH!" Larra yelled.

"Not scared of you," said Laure, writing her marine animal story.

"ugh! your never scared!" Larra aid.
"True... why do you try to scare me though?" asked Laure.
"I wanna be braver than you!" replied Larra. "What are you doing anyway?."
"Did you hear the good news?! I'm sooo excited!" screamed Laure.
"Laure, please keep it down, don't scream," said Mrs. Daver as she came into Laure's room.
"Sorry mom, i was excited," Laure said quietly.
"Oh, you're writing a story, you were always the best in class when it comes to literacy," said Mrs. Daver proudly. "She's writing this story because of the competition," explained Larra.
"You knew?" Laure asked Larra.
"Ofcourse i knew, Ms. Marraklin told me, but it's only for grade 3 to 5 so i can't enter, its the principal that chooses the winners - 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place, they dont care about the mistakes, they only care about the idea of the story - it could also be real information," Larra told her. "How did you know all that?" askes Laure curiously.
"I asked the principal... i really want that kitten, Laure, i just know that you'll win," said Larra.
"Why would you think that i would win? and if i do, i'll share that kitten with you, it can be my pet and your pet." Laure said. "But i'm not sure if i'll win...". Mrs. Daver looked surprised. Because schools never give free pets.
The next day, Laure was excited to go to school, she would tell her friends all about her story and her friends would tell her about theirs. "Dad, i already took a shower and ate my beakfast she said. "Already?! but its only 6:30!" Mr. Daver said.
"I'm just too excited, that's why i did everything quickly," Laure said.
"That's good to hear," said Mr. Daver. They went to school.
"Hi, Mendra! Hi Kate!" Laure greeted.
"Hi!" Mendra and Kate said at the same time.
"My story is about a beluga whale getting lost and he made friends on the way and those friends helped him out" Laure told them.
"My story is about a white mouse living in a masion and her owner is super, super rich, but extra nice, well the owner wants a new pet o the mouse tries to find other rodents to come live with them," Kate said.
"Mine is about pet care, the owner is mean and there is a new worker but the owner hated the new employee but he public hates the pet care boss so she gets kicked out and the new worker was really kind to the animals that she became the owner at the pet care, it also includes pets," Mendra said. The girls were impressed by eachother's stories. "Goodmorning, girls," said ms. Lonn, the principal. "Goodmorning ms. Lonn," Said the girls.
"Could you go and tell the grade 1s and 2s that there is another pet competition that they can eneter?" Said Ms. Lonn.
"Yes," they replied. So Laure, Kate, and Mendra went to the grade 1 classes first and then the grade 2s. When they went home, Laure continued writing her story. Tomorrow was when they had to hand in their stories but they grade 1s and 2s only got the news today so they have 3 more days. In 10 minutes, Laure finished her story. "AAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Larra screamed as she came into their room. "You're so noisy!" Laure said to her sister.
"I just felt like screaming!" Larra screamed again.
"Whats wrong, Larra, please don't scream," Mrs. Daver said running into the room.
"Sorry..." Larra said. Larra got a piece of paper and started her story. That night, Laure was too excited to sleep at 9. She fell asleep at 10:30. The next day, Laure took a shower, brushed het teeth and ate her breakfast. She woke up at 4:25. Laure looked at her watch. "Oh My Goodness! its only 5:30 and i'm already changing into my school uniform!" she said to herself. 1 hour later, everyone else woke up. "Laure, what time did you wake up?" asked Larra.
"umm i changed into my uniform at 5:30 so i think i woke up at 4:25," replied LAure everyone was surprised. When they went to school, Laure handed in her paper. "The winner will be declared tomorrow," Ms. Lonn told them.
" I can't wait!" said Kate.
"Neither can I!" said Laure. Today, at school, they talked about all different kinds of animals. Laure just couldn't wait until tomorrow.
The next day, when they went to school, grade 3s, 4s and 5s gathered in the theatre 1st thing in the morning. Ms. Lonn was the 1 to choose the winner. "And the winner is........ Laure from grade 4A!" Ms. Lonn declared. Laure couldn't believe it! she won 1st place! 1st place! "The 2nd place winner is....Darry from grade 3!". "And 3rd place winner is... Hannah from grade 5!".
Laure was sooo excited! She was going to get a kitten! a cute kitten! But she hoped her mom knew about this. That day, when they went home, Laure brought home a cute, furry, little, white kitten! "I'm not surprised you won," said Mrs. Daver proudly. So her mom did know about his, Larra told her. "Awww, its Adorable!" Larra said stroking it. "I'm going to call it Snowy, because its as white as snow!" said Laure.
Three days later, it was the day for the winners of the grade 1 and 2 competition winners to be declared. But Larra didn't win. "Sorry that you lost," Said Mr. Daver.
"But i don't care, the prize was an orange hamster, i prefer a kitten," said Larra.
So getting pets from school was something happy for Laure and Larra!!!
